For many of us, one of writing’s biggest challenges is finding the time to write. Maybe you can only grab an hour in the morning while hunched over your coffee, or an hour at night when all you really want to do is curl up in bed, or you jot down ideas at your desk while eating lunch. You’re writing, but it’s just not enough time.
Or perhaps your well of creativity has run dry and your muse has run off with a tattoo artist. Maybe your plot has taken a peculiar left-hand turn and you’re lost in a maze of dead-end streets; or a minor character is grabbing all the best lines from the protagonist, and you really don’t like your protagonist anymore. You need help!
Actually, what you might need is a writing retreat. A few days away from your regular environment and routine with plenty of uninterrupted time to write, the support and understanding of fellow writers, and the guidance of an experienced teacher—all in the glorious setting of New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee.

I am offering the Pen and Pine Writing Retreat from September 21 through September 25, 2025, at Geneva Point Center in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Geneva Point Center, a nonprofit conference center and summer camp, is located on the northern edge of Lake Winnipesaukee at the foothills of the White Mountains. It has nearly one mile of shoreline and 184 acres of wooded land, and is just an hour from Concord, one and half hours from Manchester and Portsmouth, and two hours from Boston and Portland.

The days will consist of free time for writing (or walks through the center’s woods or along the lake, sure to nourish anyone’s languishing creativity or to work out knotty “What happens next?” problems), a two-hour class focused on particular points of craft, and a two-hour critique session.

The retreat will run from Sunday afternoon, 9/21, until lunchtime on Thursday, 9/25. Check-in time is no earlier than 3 p.m. on Sunday; checkout time is no later than noon on Thursday. Both single and double rooms are available, and all three meals a day will be provided by the center. The total cost for the retreat is $2000, based on single occupancy. A lower rate is available for double occupancy. The maximum number of attendees is eight.
If that sounds like exactly what you need, if you are ready to explore your creativity and dive deeper into the craft of writing, fill out the registration form below.
